Robustel’s range has moved fast. Three developments matter most for Irish deployments right now.

eSIM / eUICC Routers

Most of the range now ships in an “e” variant — R1510e, R1520e, R2110e, R5020e — with embedded eSIM alongside a physical SIM slot. Switch carriers over the air, no site visit, no SIM swap. Ideal for large roll-outs and hard-to-reach installs.

5G RedCap

Analogue Line Replacement

What is a Robustel industrial router?

A Robustel industrial router is a ruggedised cellular router built to connect equipment in environments where consumer hardware fails — with wide-voltage DC input, DIN-rail or vehicle mounting, dual-SIM failover, hardware watchdogs and an industrial Linux operating system (RobustOS). It moves data from remote sites, machines and vehicles over 4G or 5G. TITAN IoT supplies the Robustel range in Ireland pre-configured, with matched antennas, SIMs and Irish technical support from Galway.

Is Robustel’s RCMS cloud platform really free?

Fleet monitoring is free for every Robustel device, for the life of the device — signal, data usage, network status and location. Advanced features such as over-the-air updates and RobustVPN remote access use paid licences, but these are month-to-month with no contract: buy a month when you need remote access, let it lapse when you don’t. Every new device also includes a free 90-day trial of the full feature set.

Do I need a static-IP SIM to access my router remotely?

No. Both Robustel’s RobustVPN and our own SmartNetVPN service work on ordinary SIMs behind carrier-grade NAT — the router connects outward to the VPN, and you reach each site on a private VPN address. This is more secure than exposing devices on public static IPs, and avoids static-IP SIM contracts entirely.

What is 5G RedCap, and should I choose it over 4G?

5G RedCap (Reduced Capability) is a streamlined version of 5G designed for IoT — it connects to 5G networks at cost and power consumption close to 4G hardware. If you’re deploying equipment with a 7–10 year service life, RedCap gives you a path onto 5G networks as 4G is gradually wound down, without paying for full 5G-router bandwidth you don’t need. We can advise per project which makes sense.

Can a Robustel device replace an analogue phone line (PSTN)?

Yes. The Robustel EV8100 is a 4G VoIP gateway with an FXS port that existing analogue equipment plugs straight into — lift emergency phones, alarm diallers, intercoms. As Ireland’s copper network is retired, it provides a like-for-like migration onto cellular voice with dual-SIM resilience, without replacing the equipment on the end of the line.

Do I need a router or an edge gateway?

A router moves data; a gateway understands it. If you only need equipment connected to the internet or a VPN, a router like the R1510 or R1520 is the right tool. If you need to run applications on site — protocol conversion, local logic, data filtering before the cloud — an edge gateway like the EG5100 does the computing on the device itself.
