What Is Private 5G?

Your own cellular network — without the public carriers.

A private cellular network is a dedicated 5G or 4G/LTE network for your site, your SIMs and your devices only. You control the coverage, the security, the data path and the prioritisation — without depending on public carriers.

Public Cellular

Public 4G/5G

Carrier-owned cellular networks. Shared spectrum, shared infrastructure, monthly SIM data plans.

  • Carrier owns the infrastructure
  • Coverage depends on carrier mast locations
  • Performance varies with network load
  • Data leaves your site to the carrier
  • No control over latency or QoS
  • Recurring per-SIM costs
Private Cellular

Private 5G / 4G

Your own dedicated cellular network on-premises. Your core, your radios, your SIMs, your data.

  • You own the network end-to-end
  • Coverage engineered to your site footprint
  • Guaranteed performance & deterministic latency
  • Data stays on-site or on your terms
  • Full control over QoS, priority and security
  • One-off CAPEX with optional support
How It Works

The Druid Raemis architecture, simplified.

A private cellular network has three components: radio access (small cells or RAN), a cellular core (Druid Raemis), and end devices (routers, sensors, tablets). TITAN supplies and integrates all three.

📡
Layer 1

Radio Access (RAN)

Small cells & outdoor radios providing 5G/4G coverage across your site, indoor or outdoor.

⚙️
Layer 2 — Core

Druid Raemis

Cellular core network platform. SIM management, traffic control, security, integration. Runs on-prem or in your cloud.

📱
Layer 3

End Devices

Robustel routers, IoT sensors, Solsta medical tablets, push-to-talk handsets — anything with a SIM slot.

Use Cases

Where private 5G makes the difference.

Six common scenarios where private cellular is the right answer — not because it’s new, but because nothing else covers the requirement.

🏥

Hospital Private 5G

Cellular coverage for medical IoT, staff comms, asset tracking, patient telemetry and Solsta tablets — without relying on hospital Wi-Fi or public carriers.

🏭

Manufacturing & Industry 4.0

Deterministic low-latency cellular for AGVs, robotics, machine vision and PLCs. Replaces unreliable Wi-Fi in production halls.

🚢

Ports & Logistics

Site-wide outdoor coverage for cranes, vehicles, asset trackers, gate systems and operator devices. Single network, unified management.

🛡️

Defence & Public Safety

Private mission-critical cellular for tactical comms, push-to-talk, video and IoT. Replaces TETRA, integrates with command systems.

Utilities & Energy

Substation telemetry, smart grid backhaul, remote site connectivity. Dedicated network with full control over critical infrastructure data.

📶

Fixed Wireless Access

Rural broadband, temporary site comms, FWA-to-customer-premises. Cellular as a wired-line replacement in hard-to-reach locations.

Why Through TITAN

The Irish private 5G partner with a complete stack.

Private cellular needs three things to work: the right core (Druid), the right edge devices (Robustel + medical/rugged), and a partner who understands integration. TITAN brings all three under one Galway-based contract.

TITAN RCMS managing private 5G routers and edge devices across Irish industrial sites
  • Druid Raemis Authorised PartnerDirect access to Druid Software, the Juniper Research #1 ranked private cellular platform. Ireland’s leading private 5G core — used globally for enterprise, healthcare and defence.
  • Complete Edge Device CatalogueRobustel R5010 5G routers, IoT sensors with cellular SIMs, Solsta medical tablets, push-to-talk handsets — all SIM-provisioned for your Druid core before shipping.
  • Network Design & Site SurveyRF planning, coverage prediction, spectrum guidance, integration design. We work with your IT and OT teams to map the network to your site.
  • Pre-Provisioned SIMs & RoutersEvery router and SIM arrives configured for your Druid core. Plug in, power on, the device joins your network — no manual provisioning.
  • Regulatory & Spectrum SupportComReg licensed shared access (LSA) and 1.8 GHz band guidance for Irish deployments. We handle the regulatory path so you don’t have to.
  • Ireland, UK & Europe SupportDirect Galway phone and email. Through Vadnet, support across UK and EU for multi-site customers. 25 years of M2M and IoT experience behind every deployment.
Our Process

From RFP to live private network in four phases.

A private cellular deployment has more moving parts than a traditional router project. TITAN’s process keeps it manageable.

01

Discovery & Site Survey

We meet your IT, OT and facilities teams. We walk the site, identify coverage needs, end devices, integration points and regulatory constraints. Output: a network design brief.

02

Design & Specification

RF planning, RAN selection, Druid Raemis sizing, integration architecture (with SCADA, BMS, EHR, ERP). Spectrum strategy via ComReg LSA where applicable. Output: a full system spec and quote.

03

Build & Deploy

Druid Raemis core deployed (on-prem, hybrid or cloud). Radios installed. Routers and devices pre-provisioned with your SIMs. Integration testing on bench, then on site.

04

Operate & Support

Ongoing network management, firmware updates, capacity reviews and device additions. RCMS for fleet visibility. Direct Galway support for the life of the network.

Frequently Asked

Private 5G — common questions.

Do I need a licence to run a private cellular network in Ireland?

It depends on the spectrum band. Some bands are licence-exempt or licensed-shared-access (LSA). For 1.8 GHz, 2.6 GHz and the 3.6 GHz “5G band”, ComReg operates licensed shared access. TITAN helps you navigate the application and obtain the right licence for your site.

How is private 5G different from a private Wi-Fi network?

Three things: coverage area (cellular reaches further than Wi-Fi with fewer access points), reliability (deterministic latency, no contention), and roaming (devices move between cells without losing the connection). Wi-Fi is great in offices. Private 5G is for sites, factories, hospitals and large campuses where Wi-Fi struggles.

What does a private 5G deployment cost?

Wide range — depends on coverage area, indoor vs outdoor, number of devices, redundancy requirements and integration scope. A pilot deployment for a single building starts in the low five figures (€); a multi-site enterprise rollout reaches six figures and beyond. We give fixed-price proposals after the site survey, not before.

Can I run private 5G alongside public cellular?

Yes — most TITAN customers run both. Public cellular SIMs from carriers continue working as normal; devices on your private network use private SIMs provisioned in your Druid Raemis core. Dual-SIM routers like the Robustel R5010 can use both simultaneously for failover.

What devices can connect to a private 5G network?

Anything with a SIM slot — Robustel and Cradlepoint routers, IoT sensors, GPS trackers, Solsta medical tablets, rugged industrial laptops, push-to-talk handsets, smartphones. TITAN supplies pre-provisioned SIMs for your Druid Raemis core, so devices join your network on first boot.

How does Druid Raemis compare to other private cellular cores?

Druid was ranked #1 for product and market positioning in Juniper Research’s private networks leaderboard. Founded in 2000, based in Ireland, deployed in 70+ countries across enterprise, healthcare, defence, public safety and industrial verticals. ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified. Strong fit for regulated industries.
