Transport Connectivity in Ireland From the Junction to the Fleet
Traffic controllers, roadside cabinets, digital signage, buses and ambulances all need a cellular link that stays up. TITAN IoT supplies the industrial routers, antennas, SIMs and VPN for transport connectivity across Ireland, staged in Galway so every unit arrives ready to connect.
Built for rollouts: a county of junctions or a fleet of vehicles. Start with one site or one vehicle, prove it, then roll it out.

What Is Transport Connectivity?
Transport connectivity is the cellular link that connects roadside equipment and vehicles to a control centre or the internet. An industrial 4G or 5G router, a matched antenna and a SIM carry data from traffic controllers, signage and ticketing, CCTV and trackers over a secure VPN, with remote management so every site and vehicle can be checked without a visit.
It replaces fixed lines where there are none, and old 3G modems where the network has gone.
Reliable Comms Inside the Controller Cabinet.
Traffic controllers are critical infrastructure, and many junctions have no other communications. The rollout we supply most is a router and antenna inside the controller cabinet, bringing a reliable link back to the central traffic management hub.

Advantech ICR routers
The ICR-2734A02 is the current unit in the cabinet: LTE Cat.4, dual SIM, metal case, DIN rail, wide temperature range. It replaces the end-of-life LR77.
Robustel 5G as a second route
Robustel 5G routers with a Poynting MIMO-4 antenna, managed on RCMS with the rest of the estate.
Ethernet or RS232 into the controller
Newer controllers connect over Ethernet. Older controllers connect over RS232 serial, so we match the router to the port.
Antennas for hard-to-reach sites
A Poynting PUCK-2 on the cabinet, or an OMNI-600 at hard-to-reach sites where signal is weak.
Fibre where it reaches
Where a cabinet has fibre, an Advantech EKI industrial switch with fibre ports takes the link.
Power-loss alerts
A battery-backed EV8100 tells traffic management the moment a site loses mains power.
Roadside Sites and Vehicles We Connect
The same router, antenna and SIM approach, matched to each site or vehicle type.

Roadside Power Alerts
An EV8100 runs on its internal battery when the mains drops, and sends an email and an RCMS alert to say the site has lost power.

Digital Signage
Roadside and transport signs connected over 4G or 5G with a Robustel R1510, R1520 or R5010 and a Poynting or Panorama antenna. SmartNetVPN gives secure remote access to update and manage the sign, and RCMS monitors the router.

Transport Connectivity Questions, Answered
What is transport connectivity?
Transport connectivity is the cellular link that connects roadside equipment and vehicles to a control centre or the internet. An industrial 4G or 5G router, a matched antenna and a SIM carry data from traffic controllers, signage, ticketing, CCTV and trackers over a secure VPN, with remote management so every site and vehicle can be checked without a visit.
How do you connect a traffic controller with no fixed line?
A cellular router and antenna go inside the controller cabinet. Newer controllers connect to the router over Ethernet; older controllers connect over RS232 serial. The router carries the controller’s data back to the central traffic management hub over a secure VPN. Where a cabinet already has fibre, an Advantech industrial switch with fibre ports takes the link instead.
Which router replaces the Advantech LR77?
The LR77 is end of life. For traffic controllers we now supply the Advantech ICR-2734A02, an LTE Cat.4 router with dual SIM, two Ethernet ports, a metal case and DIN rail mounting. Robustel 5G routers with a Poynting MIMO-4 antenna are the second route, managed on the free RCMS portal with the rest of the estate.
Which antenna suits a roadside cabinet?
For most cabinets, a Poynting PUCK-2 mounted on the enclosure. It is a compact 2-in-1 MIMO antenna covering 617 to 6000 MHz with an IP69K housing. At hard-to-reach sites where the signal is weak, we step up to the Poynting OMNI-600, a wideband omnidirectional 2×2 MIMO antenna, for a more reliable link back to the hub.
How do we know when a roadside site loses power?
We supply the Robustel EV8100 for out-of-band power-loss alerting. When the mains drops, it keeps running on its internal battery and sends an email alert, while RCMS flags the power loss at the same time. Traffic management knows straight away that the site has lost power, without waiting for a fault report or a site visit.
Can one router run Wi-Fi, CCTV and ticketing on a bus?
Yes. An in-vehicle router such as the Robustel R5020 carries passenger Wi-Fi, CCTV, ticketing and validators, trackers and crew devices over one connection. Robustel state the R5020 is E-mark certified for vehicles. A Poynting MIMO-4-19 roof antenna combines 4×4 5G, 4×4 Wi-Fi and GPS in one housing, and RCMS Portal Manager runs the passenger Wi-Fi login.
Does TITAN fit the equipment?
No. TITAN supplies, configures and stages the kit in Galway, and your installer, traffic systems contractor or vehicle builder fits it. Every router arrives with its SIM, VPN and settings in place, so the job on site is to mount it, connect it and power it up. We provide technical support from Galway during and after the rollout.
Can we pilot one site or vehicle before rolling out?
Yes, and we recommend it. We spec and stage a router, antenna and SIM for one junction, cabinet or vehicle so your team can confirm the link back to the central hub works end to end. Once the pilot is proven, the same configuration is staged in Galway for every other site or vehicle and shipped ready to connect.
Tell Us About Your Sites or Fleet
How many junctions, cabinets or vehicles, and what each one needs to connect. We’ll spec the kit, stage a pilot in Galway and plan the rollout from there.
