Rapid-deployment asset and vehicle tracker with broad cellular coverage.

The ATEL AS83-8 is a battery-powered LTE Cat-1 tracker designed for fast, no-installation deployment on stolen vehicles, high-value cargo, plant equipment, and outdoor assets. With multi-band LTE Cat-1, UMTS (3G), and GSM (2G) connectivity, the AS83-8 works in regions where Cat-M1 coverage is patchy and provides reliable fallback to legacy networks where modern IoT cellular is unavailable.

“Slap and Track” deployment

The AS83-8 is built for situations where there’s no time for a wired install. With an internal 5,200 mAh Li-rechargeable battery, internal cellular and GNSS antennas, and an optional magnet holder accessory, the device can be deployed on a vehicle, container, or trailer in seconds — no power feed required, no installation engineer needed. Ideal for stolen vehicle recovery, project-specific asset monitoring, and short-to-medium-term tracking deployments.

Broad cellular coverage where Cat-M1 falls short

LTE Cat-1 with 3G UMTS and 2G GSM fallback means the AS83-8 stays connected across European and global networks regardless of Cat-M1 rollout status. For projects deploying across mixed-coverage regions, or where 2G/3G is still the dominant cellular option, the AS83-8 is the practical choice over Cat-M1-only devices.

Built for harsh deployments

IP67-rated housing, an operating temperature range from -30°C to +75°C, and a sealed enclosure mean the AS83-8 holds up outdoors, on vehicles, in containers, and across yards and depots. The 3-axis accelerometer triggers motion-based reporting, tamper detection, and variable reporting frequency between stationary and moving states — extending battery life without sacrificing visibility.

Configurable to your project

Up to 16 geo-fences (polygon or circle), event-triggered reporting, scheduled wake-up, over-the-air firmware updates, and an extended AT command set let the AS83-8 be tuned in the field. The application firmware is flexible and can be customised to interface with your existing server. For project-specific requirements — custom server endpoints, bespoke reporting protocols, or non-standard event triggers — TITAN works directly with ATEL to spec custom firmware for your deployment.

Managed by A·TRACS or integrated direct

A·TRACS is ATEL’s enterprise cloud platform, offering device management, firmware-over-the-air (FOTA), geo-fence administration, and event notifications via the A.RMS portal. Devices can report to A·TRACS, to your own platform via REST API, or to both — giving you a managed-cloud starting point with a clear path to direct integration as your deployment scales.
