The Teltonika RUTX50 is a dual-SIM industrial 5G router with five Gigabit Ethernet ports, built for sites that need near-fixed-line speed without a fixed line. It has been the workhorse 5G unit for rural premises, construction sites, temporary offices and anywhere fibre isn’t coming soon.
Lifecycle note: Teltonika has placed the RUTX50 in its end-of-life cycle. It remains available to order until early 2027 and supported until 2032, so it is still a sound choice for projects now — but if you are specifying a platform to standardise on for years ahead, ask us about the RUTM50 and RUTC50, the named successors. We would rather have that conversation before you order fifty of them.

The antenna decides your 5G speed
This matters more on the RUTX50 than on any 4G router. It has four cellular antenna ports for 4×4 MIMO, and connecting a 2×2 antenna halves the streams the modem can use — throttling the connection with the router working exactly as designed. The advertised speeds assume a 4×4 antenna.

RutOS and remote management
The RUTX50 runs RutOS with a full VPN suite including OpenVPN, IPsec and WireGuard, industrial protocols including Modbus TCP, MQTT and SNMP, and compatibility with Teltonika RMS for remote monitoring, configuration and firmware updates across a fleet.

Where it sits in the range
If 5G isn’t required, the 4G RUT951 covers most site connectivity at lower cost, and the RUT956 adds serial and GNSS for equipment integration. For 5G specifically, talk to us about the current generation before committing to a long-term rollout.
