Wastewater fails silently: a septic tank filling faster than expected, a storm tank not draining down, a pump quietly stopped. By the time anyone notices, it’s a callout, a cleanup or an environmental incident. TITAN IoT delivers autonomous level monitoring for wastewater, septic and storm tanks — battery-powered, non-contact sensing, alerts before the overflow — built on Rochester Sensors’ proven monitoring platform and supported from Galway.
What Is Septic Tank Level Monitoring?
Septic tank level monitoring uses a battery-powered sensor mounted above the liquid to measure the level in a septic, wastewater or storm tank continuously and report it remotely. Instead of discovering a problem at the overflow — or paying for pump-outs on a fixed schedule whether needed or not — the level is visible on a dashboard, with alerts when it rises abnormally, fails to drain down, or approaches capacity. Non-contact measurement matters in wastewater: nothing sits in the liquid to foul, corrode or need cleaning, so the sensor keeps working in an environment that destroys immersed equipment.
The same monitoring covers pump station wet wells, grease traps, attenuation tanks and holiday-home septic systems that nobody visits for months.
Tanks That Fail Quietly
Septic Tanks & Holiday Properties
Rentals, holiday homes and rural properties where the tank is out of sight for months. A level alert turns an emergency pump-out into a scheduled one.
Pump Stations & Wet Wells
A stopped pump shows up as a rising level long before it shows up as a flood. Level monitoring is the cheapest pump-failure alarm there is.
Storm & Attenuation Tanks
Proof the tank drains down as designed — and warning when it doesn’t. Increasingly expected on developments and commercial sites.
Pump-Out Scheduling at Scale
Contractors servicing many tanks route by actual level instead of fixed rounds — fewer wasted visits, no missed full tanks.

Wastewater Monitoring Questions, Answered
What is septic tank level monitoring?
A battery-powered sensor mounted above the liquid measures the tank level continuously and reports it remotely, with alerts when the level rises abnormally, fails to drain, or nears capacity. It replaces both surprise overflows and fixed-schedule pump-outs with visibility — you act on the actual level.
Why does non-contact measurement matter in wastewater?
Because wastewater destroys immersed equipment: fouling, sludge, corrosion. A sensor measuring from above the liquid has nothing in the tank to clean or replace, so it keeps working in conditions that end float switches and submerged probes early.
Does the tank need power?
No — the sensors are battery powered and autonomous, designed for multi-year operation. That’s what makes septic tanks, remote pump stations and holiday properties practical to monitor: no mains, no wiring, no infrastructure.
Can it tell us a pump has failed?
Indirectly and reliably — a stopped pump shows as a level that rises and doesn’t recover on its normal cycle. Trend alerts catch that pattern early, usually well before any flood or backup makes the failure obvious.
Is this available today or coming?
Both. Rochester’s current ultrasonic and pressure sensor range covers many tank applications today, and the next-generation autonomous sonar sensor designed specifically for wastewater and septic duty is in development. Register interest and we’ll scope your tanks against both.
