Traffic Supervisor
Traffic Supervisor
Traffic Supervisor is a complete solution for detailed traffic analysis. It is made up of in-ground wireless sensors to count vehicles and a LoRaWAN Central Unit to process data coming from the sensors.
The sensors give the exact time of each passage. The Central Unit acquires traffic data and starts processing. Then, information is sent to a LoRaWAN network server at scheduled time intervals from 2 to 60 minutes.
Traffic Supervisor can be set to work in 4 different modes to fit every situation. An online dashboard displays traffic data on a LoRaWAN application server.

Mode 1: COUNTING
This is the configuration to count vehicles transiting on one or more road sections and multilane roads. Thanks to the occupation time it is possible to obtain an estimation of the average speed of the traffic flow for each transmission interval.
Mode 2: COUNTING AND CLASSIFICATION BY LENGTH
This is a configuration to count vehicles transiting also in multilane roads, and to group them by length. The average speed of the traffic flow for each transmission interval is computed for each transit and then averaged over the measurement interval.
Mode 3: COUNTING AND CLASSIFICATION BY LENGTH IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC
As in mode 2, the system can count vehicles transiting also in multilane roads, and group them by length. In this case, the classification method is based on the contemporary occupation of many sensors in line along the direction of travel.
Mode 4: COUNTING AND DIRECTION OF TRAVEL IN ONE-LANE ROADS
This operating mode is for one-lane roads where two-way travel is permitted. The system can count vehicles and detect the direction of travel for each transit.
COMPONENTS

SKY LIGHT SENSOR
It’s a solid, accurate wireless sensor. It is designed to resist the stress of heavy traffic on the roads and of weather conditions. Sky Light Sensor works with a combination of three detection technologies, coming from a patented ambient light sensor, an infrared sensor and a magnetic sensor. A strong algorithm guarantees extreme accuracy and eliminates possible errors. Maintenance and installation operations will be quick and easy, using common construction tools. This is thanks to an additional external case where the sensor is placed. Sky Light Sensor is powered by a long-life battery. If it starts to run out after several years of intense use, Nabla Quadro offers a battery replacement service to guarantee the longest product life.

CENTRAL UNIT
The Central Unit is a device that receives data from wireless traffic sensors and makes data processing in real-time. Depending on the configuration, the Central Unit sends specific traffic data to a LoRaWAN server at scheduled time intervals. When receiving data, the Central Unit uses a proprietary radio protocol at 868 MHz. When sending data to the network server, the communication is via LoRaWAN radio. The Central Unit is powered by long-life batteries and is placed in a waterproof box since it is installed outdoor.
