What is LoRaWAN and why does Milesight use it?

Do I need a gateway as well as sensors?
Yes. LoRaWAN sensors communicate wirelessly with a gateway, which forwards data to a network server and then to your dashboard or platform. TITAN helps you design the right gateway placement — one UG65 can typically cover an entire building floor or a 2-3km outdoor radius.
Can Milesight sensors integrate with my existing BMS?
Yes. The UC300 controller and Milesight's BACnet driver allow LoRaWAN sensor data to be fed into existing Building Management Systems via Modbus, BACnet, or KNX. TITAN can help design the integration.
How long do the batteries last?
Most Milesight sensors run on standard batteries for 5-10 years depending on reporting interval. The EM500 outdoor series and AM300 indoor series are designed for years of maintenance-free operation.
